So I think this will be the last of the Turkey posts. As I was writing the earlier posts, I kept a file going called "Around Town" with images that didn't easily fit into the other subjects. So here they are.
Around the corner from our hostel:

How carpets are made:

Roasted corn (and what I think were chestnuts) stand:

The only carpet we bought in Turkey:

The disappointingly small "Welcome to Asia" sign on the bridge across the Bosphorus (I'd been hoping for some elaborately decorated archway announcing our crossing onto another continent, but this was all we got). Poor quality, I know: this photo was taken from the Bosphorus, actually, during the boat ride we took on our last day in Istanbul.

Evil eye embedded in Kaymakli sidewalk ... we found these charms all over Turkey (and Bosnia-Hercegovina ... and Albania, evidently). They are supposed to scare away evil spirits.

VW bug/bus spotted in Goreme:

Our reunion with the EEEVV-IIILLL Starbucks in Istanbul. I was so annoyed by the sight of it on the main drag in Sultanahmet, but the lure of filtered coffee (as opposed to Turkish coffee) and Alex's desire for hot chocolate made it impossible for me to avoid.

Alex striking a dapper pose with incense and walking stick:

Blue Mosque at night:

Aya Sofya at night:

Alex waiting patiently while I take too many photos of Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya at night:

One of the many alleys filled with sidewalk cafes:

Divanyolu, also referred to as "Tram Road," the main drag in Sultanahmet:

Ablutions at Yeni Mosque near the Spice Bazaar:
