Last night, Alex went rockwall climbing with his Uncle Peter, and I came along to take pictures. I think he thinks he's practicing for our stay in the Smoky Mountains on the way back to Ohio.

Alex getting help with his climbing gear.

The wall he conquered surprisingly quickly (by the end of the session, he made it to the top and back down again in under a minute!).

Posing on the wall.

Near the top of the easier wall.

A little further up and still posing.

Cooling down between climbs.

At the top of the tougher wall ... no longer posing, but grumbling, "Mom, could you just stop talking to me right now?" every time I tried to send up some encouragement.

Peter with the rope that saves Alex's life if he falls.

Coming down the wall.

After the tough climb ... he stayed there for a couple of minutes after I took this picture.

Afterwards, the boy discovers the wonder and beauty of Barnacle Bill's raw oyster bar with Uncle Peter.

Letting Grandpaw know he's just downed two dozen oysters.

Close up of the tshirt on the wall above Alex's head in previous photo ... and it couldn't be truer.
