This is one of my most accidental artsy photos of the trip:

As I was crossing the Thames to get back to my b&b yesterday evening, I realized that I hadn't taken any photos of the statues on top of buildings yet. They are all over central London along the Thames, and I don't know why. When I took the boat tour a few weeks ago, the guide pointed them out and said they were some sort of art installation, but that everytime he sees one, he thinks it's a jumper. And now when I see them, the same thought runs through my mind (that they are jumpers, not that I should throw myself off a building). But maybe they're meant to be guardians of the city or something.
[So I just googled it, and I learned that this is "Event Horizon," a public art installation by Antony Gormley, connected to his exhibit at the Hayward Gallery this summer ... it sounds like the statues are here only for the summer -- see the link of the day for a BBC article about it.]
The problem is that once you see one and you realize that it is a statue, you start scanning the skyline and you realize they are all over the place. It can really creep you out. I took all of these photos when I was crossing the Thames or within one block of it, and they are all of different statues (though some buildings have more than one statue):

I'm sure there's more to say about this, but it's after midnight here, and I fly back to Florida tomorrow, so I need to get some sleep.
