Hilda's Road

I just can't wait, even though I should be in bed. Here is a photo of the front doors of the old house still at Veteli, where Juhani Bjorkbacka lived:
And the road Hilda took when she left for America 102 years ago, though it was much more narrow then and didn't have a barn next to it:
For reasons I can't entirely explain, and that I didn't expect at all, when Liisa (who doesn't speak English) told Antti to tell me this was Hilda's path, I nearly cried. I don't know if he knows that why I was so silent then, but after a moment Antti said, "But it was good that she went. There was hunger and there was war here."
